Two of Jacksonville’s Largest Credit Unions Donate $10,000 to Make Thanksgiving Brighter for Brentwood Community

121 Financial Credit Union and VyStar Credit Union Came Together to Give a Donation to Chef Harvey Foundation for Thanksgiving Meals.

Jacksonville, Fla. – (November 22, 2023) – 121 Financial Credit Union and VyStar Credit Union came together to provide $10,000 to the Chef Harvey Foundation to help feed residents of Jacksonville’s Brentwood neighborhood for this Thanksgiving holiday.

“I was planning to help 500 families this Thanksgiving by giving them a frozen turkey, the full fixings and side dishes, or a gift card that will cover the costs of a family dinner of their choice,” said Chef Harvey. “Unfortunately, I needed some extra funding to help the large amount of people who can’t afford food this year. I’ve been a member of 121 Financial Credit Union for many years, and after I explained the situation to my local branch manager, 121 Financial Credit Union’s leadership called me to share the news that VyStar would provide further support to make a $10,000 donation. I was so grateful to 121 Financial and VyStar for recognizing the need in the community and helping me feed our neighbors in need.”

Meals distributed to 250+ Families at THE Bridge the Gap hEADQUARTERS

Chef Harvey distributed Thanksgiving meals and gift cards on Saturday, Nov. 18 at the Bridge the Gap headquarters in the Brentwood neighborhood that served more than 250 families who attended.

Bridge the Gap is a nonprofit organization that mobilizes volunteers, government, faith members, health providers, businesses, and the community at large to fill the gaps in the delivery of fundamental social services to elderly and disabled citizens.

“As soon as we heard about Chef Harvey’s need, we knew we needed to assist,” said 121 Financial Credit Union Chief Operating Officer Paul Blackstone. “We quickly had VyStar Credit Union on board, and the money was donated to Chef Harvey to buy more turkeys and gift cards.”
